gray day, green sock

yarning along for the first time

On this Wednesday morning I have...

...made a small pot of coffee just for me.

...finished the last paper due before spring break.

...listened to my favorite radio station.

...knitted a heel all by myself (very magical! how'd this heel get here?). a bit of Room, which is unsettling but consuming.

...gazed out the living room window at the gray rain that keeps falling.

...wished with all my might that the UPS truck would show up with my new rain boots before I leave for work. No dice so far.

What have you been doing today?

* * *

Some yarny things I want to share:

*Check out Jennifer's crocheted hats. Can you believe she just started crocheting a couple of weeks ago?

*Do you know a university student who knits or crochets? Tell them about this scholarship! I wish I had known about it last year.

*Sock knitting class is over. Sweater knitting class starts this week. I am super-pumped!

  1. Sounds like a dreamy morning. Room is on my book wish list. I made myself a fresh pot of coffee and did some blog reading which I haven't done in a long time. Today is one of my busy days so I'll be crochetting away while I wait

  2. Sounds like a wonderful morning. :) Room sounds like an interesting read. I think perhaps I'll flit out to the library to find it this week. :)

  3. this is the third time i've heard about room...may have to check that out, sounds interesting. the scholarship is awesome as well! i saw it on their website a few weeks ago, but didn't feel like i should try for it...i'm using my gi bill for school...until (if) my benefits get cut...the coffee sounds delicious...and your sock looks very kermit the froggy:)

  4. A sock? You brave gal, you!

I've been knitting today too. :)

  5. I knitted a "sock" this week too! Yours looks lovely!

  6. Good work on the heel! There are so many magical things about knitting socks, the heel is my favourite part!

  7. Loving the sock!! I just did a knitting post too:) Hope the UPS truck has delivered your rain boots by now...I love getting packages in the mail!! Happy knitting :) ~ Tina x

  8. Love the color.

My day was full of kindergarten madness. Then home to make a big pan of black bean & sweet potato enchiladas. They were insane.

  9. Hope the boots came in time! Heels do sound a bit of a mystery to me.

  10. Thanks for the heads-up on the scholarship. I looked into it for my daughter, but it's been so long since she picked up her knitting needles. And, she's never designed something of her own. We're looking into every opportunity though -- 2 kids in college next year. Yikes!

Congrats on making your way through that heel. You have to feel good about that.

  11. Are you done with the sock? It looks lovely... YOU inspired me...and a couple days ago I started knitting on 4 dpns...with orange yarn! To make my FIRST socks...
It is snowing pretty. We just had red peppers and wilted spinach with pasta for dinner...

  12. Heels are magical aren't they? Yours is looking wonderful. Overall sounds like an ideal Wednesday.
Kind of sounds like my Sundays-minus the paper. :)
Hope you had a great weekend!
