It's yarn along day!
I think I've been bitten by the sock bug because as soon as I cast off my Rainbow Brite socks, I cast on another sock. This pair is a moody gray, so I'm calling them the Dark and Stormy socks. They're for my husband who prefers his socks a little more subtle than I like mine. I worried I might get bored knitting these solemn socks, so last night I cast on a pair of sunshine-colored Kalajoki. I told you I've got the bug!
I just finished reading Genesis by Bernard Beckett for my work's book club. It's the story of a post-apocalyptic world and how it came to be (hence genesis). The story is structured as an oral exam the main character must pass to enter the Academy; she narrates the history of her world. It's a little book, only 150 pages, and a fast read, but it lingers. I went to bed thinking about it and woke up still trying to sort it out.

I hope you're having a lovely week! What have you been making and reading?
I'm making dark grey socks for my boyfriend - or I would be if I hadn't got bored and lost all my sock knitting mojo! Good idea to cast on bright socks at the same time ;)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like the perfect book for me...thanks for the recommendation! I am still working on the little vest for my nephew...oh man, the neck is not easy!!! Knitting a ribbed neck.
ReplyDeleteLove the sound of your book. Just my kind of book. Another one for my list. You really have been bitten by the sock bug.
ReplyDeleteI think they look lovely- although I do tend towards the bright socks for myself :)
ReplyDeleteI think you have found a great bug to be bitten by as socks are so much fun. I have found I like to keep a sock in my bag so I can work on it when I have a few minutes to spare.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely yarn along day.
I've got some grey sock yarn that's waiting to be socks for my husband, only I'm being super-ambitious and planning on making it into cabled kilt hose . . . I just haven't got up the courage to cast them on yet! Sometime this year though . . .
ReplyDeleteI love making socks too, there's always a few pairs at various stages around the house!
ReplyDeleteSocks are very addicting! I love the color you chose for yours.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to knit socks...but am hoping it is something I learn to do very soon! :)
ReplyDeleteGo Socks!!!
ReplyDeleteYour hubby's socks look great so far, cannot wait to see your Kalajoki socks.
I love your Rainbow Brites! I know what you mean about the Dark and Stormies, though. I probably would cast on another pair of socks, too. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love the color! I swear I'm bi-polar because I love subtle colors like greys & creams & other times I can't NOT wear bright colors! haha. That book sounds PERFECT for a quick afternoon/evening read. I'm requesting it on my next click hehe.
ReplyDeleteI need to finish what's in my bag before I start socks. But I really want to start now seeing yours :)
ReplyDeleteThis socks aren't as vibrant but I know what you mean when you get in a mode.
ReplyDeleteI've been searching sock patterns so it's nice to see what you're working on. The book you just finished sounds fascinating ... sometimes short packs a punch.
ReplyDeleteMy goal this year is to learn to knit socks---if I do, everyone in my family is getting a pair for the holidays. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd aren't books that linger in your mind after you've finished them so great?
My husband and I were just talking about our love of post-apocalyptic stories so you read our minds! I'm going to see if I can get Genesis at the library now.....
